Heinrich Wilhelm Dove is the one people should be grateful to for the discovery of binaural beats. The latter were originally discovered in 1839. The physicist managed to discover binaural beats when he noticed the signals of two frequencies that were separately exposed to each ear. In the process the human brain detects the phase variation that lies between the frequencies as well as reconciles the difference.

When doing so, the frequencies mentioned above mesh both – in and out of the phase, and the human brain generates its unique third signal. The latter is known as ‘the binaural beat’. The binaural beat is equal to that very difference between the frequencies.

For instance, in case the frequency of 100 Hz is directed to the human left ear, while the level of frequency 105 Hz is directed to the human right ear, he or she “hears” a third frequency at the level of 5 Hz. That’s the very difference between the mentioned frequencies.

According to the most recent researches, introducing a binaural beat may cause the human brain to start resonating in tune with it. Through generating a binaural beat at the level of 10 Hz that is called the Alpha frequency, one may trigger one’s brain to resonate exactly at 10 Hz frequency. Thus, you’re automatically inducing the activity of your own brain in the Alpha range. One may use the very same technique in order to easily and quickly guide one’s mind into the desired state.

Once the human brain starts resonating with the so-called binaural beat, or, in other words, it is “following” this very beat, the effect is known as the Frequency Following Response. The most thorough and detailed researches on the issue were performed in 1973. The leader of the researches — biophysicist Gerald Oster properly tested this phenomenon at Mount Sinai Hospital that is located in New York City. Gerald Oster performed his research on binaural beats, as well as on the Frequency Following Response, and published one on the pages of the Scientific American. Thus, the biophysicist successfully paved the way for potential further development within the field of auditory stimulation in order to improve the functioning of a human brain.

Ever since that time, a huge number of scientists and doctors from all parts of the globe have been endorsing the banal beat technology.
